Cala Mondragó: A Natural Starting Point

Cala Mondragó is one of the most recognisable places on the Santanyí coast. It lies within the Parc Natural de Mondragó, a protected area combining beaches, dunes, wetlands, cliffs and Mediterranean vegetation.

From the sea, pine-covered slopes surround the inlet, while pale rock and clear water create the characteristic scenery of southeast Mallorca.

It is also a popular bathing area within a protected environment. Riders should therefore remain outside swimming zones and respect all applicable navigation restrictions.

S’Amarador: Mondragó at Its Wildest

The next stop is close by, but the scenery changes noticeably. S’Amarador is backed by the natural landscape of Mondragó rather than a dense line of buildings.

Its broad sandy beach, shallow waters and pine forest make it one of the park’s best-known locations. The short distance from Cala Mondragó also shows why this route is about exploration rather than simply covering kilometres.

As at Mondragó, enjoy the scenery from the permitted navigation zone and stay clear of swimmers.

Caló des Borgit: A Smaller, Quieter Cove

Continue along the coast and you reach Caló des Borgit, one of the smaller beaches within the Mondragó area. Pine trees and Mediterranean vegetation extend almost to the shore, while low rocky sides enclose the cove.

Its compact scale creates a very different impression from the wider beach at s’Amarador. From here, the route continues north towards Portopetro and gradually leaves the natural park behind.

Portopetro: A Traditional Harbour on the Route

Portopetro introduces a different side of the Santanyí coastline. Instead of another beach, the route reaches a natural harbour surrounded by waterfront houses, restaurants and boats.

Despite its proximity to Cala d’Or, the harbour retains much of its maritime character. Traditional Mallorcan llaüts can still be seen among the vessels around Portopetro, reflecting the area’s fishing heritage.

Take particular care around the harbour entrance. Reduce speed where required, watch for other vessels and follow local navigation rules.

Cala Egos: Towards Cala d’Or

Cala Egos, also known as Caló de ses Egos, is the final stop before reaching the Cala d’Or coastline. Its narrow inlet offers another change of scenery after Mondragó and Portopetro.

Hotels and residential buildings now appear around the cove, marking the transition towards one of Santanyí’s main tourist areas. Its rocky sides and sheltered shape are typical of the small inlets found around Cala d’Or.

Stopping here also leaves Cala d’Or and its neighbouring coves for another jet ski route further north.
