Buying a used jet ski in Mallorca comes down to four checks: engine hours, documented service history, hull condition, and salt-water corrosion. A dealer-checked machine with verified history is worth paying more for than a classified-ad bargain - on an island where every jet ski lives in salt water, hidden neglect is the real cost.
The four checks that matter
Engine hours
Hours are the jet ski equivalent of mileage - but context matters more than the raw number. A higher-hours machine that was serviced on schedule and flushed after every ride can be a better buy than a low-hours one that sat unwinterised. Always see the hours on the gauge yourself, and be sceptical of any figure that can't be verified.
Service history
This is the single biggest separator. You want stamped, dated evidence of annual servicing, oil changes and winterisation - ideally by a factory-trained workshop. No paperwork means you're buying blind, and pricing should reflect that risk heavily. Ask specifically when the last service was and what was done.
Hull and ride plate
Look along the hull in good light for cracks, gelcoat repairs, and impact damage around the bow and keel line - signs of beaching or collision. Check the ride plate and pump area for grinding damage from sucked-up debris. Small scratches are cosmetic; spider cracks and poorly blended repairs are negotiation points or walk-away signals.
Corrosion - the Mallorca question
Salt is relentless here. Inspect electrical connectors, the battery compartment, steering and reverse linkages, and every visible fastener for white or green corrosion bloom. A machine that was rinsed and flushed after each ride looks years younger inside than one that wasn't - this, more than anything, tells you how the owner treated it.
Beyond the big four: verify the paperwork matches the hull identification, confirm there's no outstanding finance, and take a water test where possible - listen for hesitation, check it reaches proper revs, and watch the temperature.
Dealer-checked versus classifieds
A private ad can be a genuine bargain - and it can also be someone else's corrosion problem with a fresh polish. Buying pre-owned from Nauti Parts changes the risk equation:
- Every machine is inspected by the factory-trained technicians in our service centre before it's offered for sale.
- We're the island's only authorised Sea-Doo dealer, so the machines we take in tend to be ones we've serviced ourselves - known history, not claimed history.
- You get a working relationship afterwards: parts, servicing, storage and winterisation, with island-wide collection and delivery.
- We've been trading here since 1995. A classified seller disappears after the transfer; we're beside Puerto Portals all year.
One legal note: Spanish regulations generally require a qualification to drive your own jet ski. We'll point you to local course providers when you buy.
Trade-ins and stock alerts
Two things make used buying easier with us. First, trade-ins: bring your current machine and we'll value it against anything in stock - new or used - which usually beats the hassle of a private sale. Second, our pre-owned stock rotates constantly and the best machines sell fast, often before they're advertised. Join the VIP alert list on our pre-owned page and you'll hear about incoming machines first.
If the numbers nudge you toward new instead, the 2026 Sea-Doo range starts at €11,595 inc IVA and Santander financing is available.
Common questions
How many hours is too many on a used jet ski?
There's no single cut-off - a well-serviced higher-hours machine beats a neglected low-hours one. Judge hours together with service history, and price accordingly.
Is it safe to buy a jet ski from a classified ad in Mallorca?
It can be, if you do all four checks and see real service paperwork. The risk is hidden salt-water corrosion and undocumented history - exactly what a dealer inspection screens out.
Does Nauti Parts buy jet skis or take trade-ins?
Yes - we take trade-ins against new and pre-owned stock. Bring the machine or send us details and we'll value it.
What used jet skis do you have in stock right now?
Stock rotates weekly in season. Check the pre-owned page or join the VIP alert list to hear about machines before they're listed.
