A Seabob and an eFoil deliver completely different experiences. The Seabob pulls you through and under the water like a dolphin - anyone can ride one within a minute of the briefing. An eFoil flies you above the water on an electric hydrofoil - a genuine skill that takes sessions to learn and rewards you for years. Neither replaces the other; the right pick depends on who's riding and where.

We sell and service both - Nauti Parts is the official Seabob sales and service partner for the Balearics, and we stock eFoils alongside them in our Son Bugadelles showroom. Here's how they actually compare.

What a Seabob actually feels like

You hold the grips, squeeze the trigger and the E-Jet power system pulls you along the surface - then you angle it down and you're underwater, banking through the blue like something out of a nature documentary. There is no learning curve worth mentioning, which is exactly why charter guests love it: everyone on board gets the full experience in their first five minutes.

The current range runs from the F5 line to the flagship F9 series. The Seabob F9 weighs just over 20 kg, gives 40-60 minutes of riding per charge, and dives with a safety cut-off at 3 m (configurable deeper for trained users). The quickest models in the range are rated at up to 22 km/h - which feels far faster when your face is at water level.

What an eFoil actually feels like

An eFoil is an electric surfboard on a hydrofoil mast. Once you're up on the foil, the board lifts clear of the water and you carve in near silence - riders universally describe it as flying. It's magical, and it's earned.

The honest part: your first session is mostly falling. Most people get flights on day one and genuinely carve within a few sessions, but it's a board sport - balance, stance and throttle finesse all matter. Battery life varies by model and how hard you push; like the Seabob, you're planning your fun in sessions, not afternoons, and a spare battery is the upgrade experienced owners make first.

Which suits a yacht?

The Seabob is the default superyacht toy for good reasons: compact, quick to deploy from the swim platform, safe in the hands of any guest, and just as fun in a bay at anchor as on open water. Charge it between swims and every guest rotation gets a turn. That's why it anchors our superyacht toy programme.

An eFoil earns its place on board when the owner or guests actually ride - it's a sportsperson's toy, and it needs more stowage and more crew attention (assembly, wing care, charging discipline). Plenty of yachts carry both: the Seabob for everyone, the eFoil for the enthusiasts.

Our recommendation

If one toy has to please everyone - buy the Seabob. Zero learning curve, underwater magic, and the whole family or guest list can use it from minute one. If the rider is sporty and wants a skill that keeps getting better, the eFoil is the deeper long-term thrill.

And genuinely: rent both first. An hour on each from our rentals fleet tells you more than any comparison table, and it's the cheapest mistake-avoidance in watersports. Then come and talk to us about the Seabob range or eFoil options - or ask about servicing either at our Service Centre.

Common questions

Is a Seabob or an eFoil easier to learn?

The Seabob, by a distance. Riders are comfortable within minutes. An eFoil typically takes a few sessions before you're flying consistently.

Can you take a Seabob underwater?

Yes - that's its signature. The F9 has a 3 m safety cut-off depth, adjustable deeper via the electronic controls for experienced users.

How long do the batteries last?

The Seabob F9 runs 40-60 minutes per charge depending on battery option, with fast charging in about an hour. eFoil battery life varies by model and riding style - ask us about the models we currently stock.

Which is better for kids and older guests?

The Seabob. It's intuitive, controllable and fun at gentle speeds, which is why it's the one toy that works for an entire charter party.
